The Detroit Lions may be 1-4, but quarterback Jared Goff is trying to remain optimistic.

With the team returning from a bye to face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7, Goff stayed positive when talking about Detroit's brutal 29-0 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 5.

Goff called the lopsided defeat a "good learning experience." He also said he hoped the team would view the loss as a wake-up call and be motivated to play better going forward.

Indeed, the Lions were clearly overmatched against the Patriots in all phases of the game. Their reeling defense continued to struggle, while their potent offense was held scoreless. Dan Campbell was also outcoached by Bill Belichick, who bent the Lions to his will.

Detroit knows they're better than that, and it helps that they've had an extra week off to work on their weaknesses and improve as a unit.

Things won't get any easier in Week 7, however, as the Lions have a tough road matchup with the Cowboys, who are expected to get quarterback Dak Prescott back. Detroit is currently a 7-point road underdog on FanDiuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
