Jacksonville Jaguars running back Chris Thompson has provided a receiving presence out of the backfield this season while playing behind lead back James Robinson on the depth chart. However, Thompson exited Jacksonville's Week 10 matchup against the Green Bay Packers with a back injury.

It turns out that back injury will be a prolonged issue. The team placed Thompson on the injured reserve list on Monday. That should give Robison's fantasy outlook a slight boost for the next few weeks.

In 8 games this season, Thompson saw 2.9 targets and grabbed 2.5 receptions for 18.3 yards per game.

James Robinson Fantasy Outlook

Robinson has enjoyed success as Jacksonville's lead back this season. He spearheads the Jaguars' rushing attack with 17.2 attempts per game and 5 touchdowns on the ground. He currently stands as RB3 in PPR scoring.

However, with Thompson's injury, Robinson will have the opportunity to beef up his production even further, especially in terms of receiving. Robinson is currently averaging 4.3 targets and 3.2 receptions per game. With the potential to absorb most, if not all, of Thompson's receiving looks, that'll only boost Robinson's fantasy scoring.

Robinson has already established himself as one of the best fantasy options at running back. The injury to Thompson opens the door for Robinson's numbers to increase, and that's good news for fantasy managers that have him on their roster.
