The New Orleans Saints have spent the entire offseason monitoring a quarterback competition between Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill. On Friday, New Orleans announced that Winston had officially won that battle.
Saints Starting QB
Winston will now become the heir apparent to future Hall of Fame QB Drew Brees, leaving the former No. 1 overall pick with massive shoes to fill. It also provides him with a huge opportunity to resurrect his career after things didn't work out in Tampa Bay.
NFL Comeback Player of the Year Odds
This is shown in his odds to win NFL Comeback Player of the Year, which have skyrocketed all the way up to +1000, tied for fifth in the league, behind the likes of Dak Prescott (+200), Saquon Barkley (+700), Joe Burrow (+700) and Christian McCaffrey (+700), according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NFL odds.
Winston's odds were previously at +1700 earlier this summer, but his role as a starter clearly gives a massive boost to his chances.
Winston won the job on the back of a strong preseason, and a capstone performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday.
Taysom Hill will revert to the backup QB and the gadget role he has played for the Saints the past few seasons, so his value will still be seen in a multitude of other ways despite losing the QB competition.
