Jaguars Had Embarrassing Run of Bad Draft Picks

It was announced Monday morning that after a three-year run with the team, the Jacksonville Jaguars released former No. 4 overall pick Leonard Fournette.
The former LSU running back's departure from Jacksonville marks the latest chapter in an incredibly bad run of top draft picks for the franchise.
The Jaguars have had seven straight years of top-10 picks and six straight years of top-5 picks, and now, with the release of Fournette, have nothing to show for it. While not all seven picks were complete busts on the football field, Jacksonville couldn't keep them happy enough to stay in town for a second contract.
Imagine having

• top-10 picks 7 straight yrs
• top-5 picks 6 straight yrs
and doing this:
#10 Blaine Gabbert - TRADED
#5 Justin Blackmon
#2 Luke Joeckel
#3 Blake Bortles - CUT
#3 Dante Fowler - TRADED
#5 Jalen Ramsey - TRADED
#4 Leonard Fournette - CUT
Dante Fowler and Jalen Ramsey have certainly proven to be quality NFL starters, but Jacksonville was forced to trade them both.
Fournette has been solid, but he has proven he was not worth the No. 4 pick Jacksonville spent on him. Especially in a draft that had both Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson on the board for the taking, and with a slew of running backs like Christian McCaffrey, Alvin Kamara, Joe Mixon and James Conner also all going behind Fournette.
So while not every one of these seven picks' poor turnout could have been foreseen, when you couple bad luck with even worse management, you get to where the Jaguars are now, praying for a chance at the No. 1 pick in next year's draft.
