Jaguars Add Pro-Bowl Playmaker in NFL.com Free Agency Predictions

The first year of the 'Trevor Lawrence Era' didn't go as planned for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season. Despite their shortcomings, there's still optimism surrounding the team ahead of free agency.
Free Agency Predictions
NFL.com gave a prediction for each team a free agent could be matched with this offseason, and the Jaguars are projected to add a former Pro-Bowler in the form of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Jaguars Free Agent Rumors
The Jaguars' wide receivers were largely unimpressive last season. Veteran Marvin Jones Jr. was the only real "standout" with 73 receptions, 832 yards and four touchdowns. Aside from Laviska Shenault Jr. (63-619-0), every other wideout had fewer than 35 receptions and 2 TDs.
Meanwhile, Smith-Schuster is coming off a campaign marred by injuries that saw him play just five games. While he didn't look like his old self in the action he did see, the former Pro-Bowler has some solid upside.
For starters, it was in the 2018 NFL season when Smith-Schuster had a career campaign with 111 receptions, 1,426 yards and seven TDS. Even though that was a while ago, he's only 25 years old and could get back to that level in the right situation.
If the Jaguars want Lawrence to be the quarterback of the present and future, they need to surround him with legitimate pass-catching options. Signing Smith-Schuster — even to a short-term deal — would be a step in the right direction.
