The Cleveland Browns are running it back at the defensive end position in 2022. Jadeveon Clowney is reportedly signing with the team on a one-year deal worth $11 million. While it was a widely expected move, what Clowney sacrificed to be back with All-Pro Myles Garrett should not be taken lightly.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport explained that Clowney had offers from other teams that spanned multiple years with a salary reaching $15 million on an annual basis. This signing suddenly becomes a massive steal for the Browns and proves that Clowney believes this team can make some noise.

The reunion makes sense given Clowney enjoyed his best season since 2018 with the Browns last fall. The 29-year-old posted 37 tackles (11.0 for loss) 19 quarterback hits, 9.0 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in 14 games. The only thing holding back a deal was Cleveland's future cap space.

The Browns were always adamant that they couldn't take a huge cap hit for for more than a year. That ended up making no difference to the three-time Pro Bowler as he inked his fourth consecutive prove-it deal. Staying healthy and replicating his success from 2021 could lead to a big pay day next time around.

Having Clowney out on the field will alleviate some of the attention Garrett draws along the edge for a team that finished tied for the ninth-most sacks in the NFL last season (43.0). The Browns enter the fall with high hopes and own +2000 odds to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
