Jacoby Brissett Injury Update Clouds Week 10 Fantasy Outlook Against Dolphins

As if Indianapolis Colts fans haven't gotten enough bad news at the quarterback position, with Andrew Luck retiring before the season, they got another scare in Week 9, when Jacoby Brissett went down with a knee injury.

After leading the Colts to a 5-2 record to open the year, Brissett thankfully looks to have avoided any serious damage, and even has a chance to return in time for a Week 10 matchup with the Miami Dolphins.

If Brissett does suit up, he'll be a terrific fantasy football play for the week. He notched at least 16.0 fantasy points in five of his seven full games, averaging 17.7 per contest. The Dolphins, on the other hand, are one of seven teams allowing at least 20.0 fantasy points per game to opposing QBs.

The Colts could easily choose to play it safe with this being such a soft matchup, as Indianapolis is a 10.5-point home favorite, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, even though Brissett's status is still up in the air.

Brian Hoyer also played well in relief of Brissett on Sunday, completing 65.4 percent of his passes with three TDs to only one interception.

If he started long-term it would downgrade the fantasy outlook of just about everyone in the Colts' offense, but in a one-off game against the Dolphins it wouldn't be a concern. Hoyer himself could even be a viable streamer in deep leagues, provided he gets the start.

Brissett is only owned in 56 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Football leagues. If he does play and you find yourself in need of a starting fantasy QB during one of the messiest bye weeks of the season, he would be a high-priority waiver wire add.

If it's Hoyer starting, though, there's less of a need to rush out and add him. His value would still mostly be limited to deep leagues or two-QB leagues, unless your team is especially desperate at the QB spot.
