The Denver Nuggets are back in action on Sunday night as they face the Oklahoma City Thunder at 8 p.m. ET. One player's status to keep an eye on ahead of tip-off is Nikola Jokic, who missed Denver's last game with a hamstring injury.
Nikola Jokic Injury Update (1/22/2023)
Updated Sunday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. ET: Nikola Jokic has been ruled out.
Jokic's absence wasn't too big of a storyline on Friday as the Nuggets were playing two days after an intense back-to-back home stretch. It's become typical for stars to take those kind of games off in an effort to stay healthy. Jokic remains questionable to play on Sunday with the same hamstring issue.
There's nothing to suggest that Jokic's status is anything but 50/50 right now. Hamstring tightness can be tough to play through as it is an area of the body that is stressed on every single play. Jokic's status will likely come down to how he looks in pregame warmups about an hour or two before tip-off.
Of course, the Nuggets and their fans are hoping the two-time reigning MVP can give it a go. Jokic currently leads Denver in points (25.1), rebound (11.0) and assists (9.9) per game. He is the main reason the team sits a full game and a half up in first place in the Western Conference (33-13 record).
Nikola Jokic Fantasy Outlook and Prop Bets Today
Oddsmakers are not giving Jokic the benefit of the doubt here as his prop bets are not listed on FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds. In fact, neither are any prop bets for point guard Jamal Murray. The Nuggets could enter a matcup against an underrated Thunder team short-handed on Sunday night.
Jokic is listed as an option on the FanDuel DFS market, though. The All-NBA talent has the highest price tag of any player on Sunday' slate ($11,700), which shouldn't come as a major shock. Jokic fills up the stat sheet on a nightly basis and is set to face an Oklahoma City defense that allows the fifth-most FanDuel fantasy points to opposing centers. However, the idea of his minutes being capped in even the slightest of margins should make fans weary about adding him to their lineup.
