The Dallas Mavericks are back in action Monday night as they face the Detroit Pistons at 8:30 p.m. ET. One player's status to keep and eye on ahead of tip-off is Luka Doncic, who missed Dallas' last game due to an ankle injury.

Luka Doncic Injury Update (1/30/2023)

Luka Doncic left Dallas' game on Thursday night after only three minutes of action when he sprained his left ankle trying to pivot. He sat out on Saturday night and his status on Monday remains up in the air. The fact that he is listed as questionable instead of out is an improvement in and of itself, though.

It's worth noting Doncic has a history with ankle issues. He missed 15 games during the 2021-22 season due to a high-ankle sprain and has already sat out five times in the 2022-23 season with left ankle soreness. It's an injury that can be re-aggravated with even the slightest roll of the ankle, too.

The Mavericks were able to squeak out a win on Thursday, but fell short without Doncic in a 108-100 loss to the Utah Jazz on Saturday. Getting the All-Star back on the court would be a huge boost considering he leads the team in points (33.0), rebounds (8.9), assists (8.4) and steals (1.5) per game.

Luka Doncic Fantasy Outlook and Prop Bets Today

Doncic isn't currently listed with any props available, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds, with his status TBD. Neither is any other player on the Mavericks roster. Meanwhile, Dallas is slated as an 8.5-point favorite over Detroit. The Mavericks are a veteran-led team and 5-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last seven games against the Pistons, so backing the home team here is a smart choice.

Doncic does come with the most expensive price tag of any point guard on the FanDuel DFS market, though. He is listed at $12,000 despite playing on a night where stars like Stephen Curry and Damian Lillard will be on the court. The Mavericks' star averages over 58.0 FanDuel fantasy points per game, but those wanting to trust him need to have a backup plan ready to go if he ends up being ruled out.
