Is Jayson Tatum Playing Tonight? (Latest Injury Updates and News for Celtics vs Bucks on Feb. 14)

The Boston Celtics are back in action on Tuesday night as they face the Milwaukee Bucks at 7:30 p.m. ET on TNT. One player's status to keep an eye on ahead of tip-off is Jayson Tatum, who is dealing with a non-COVID illness.
Jayson Tatum Injury Update (2/14/2023)
Tatum has reportedly been battling a non-COVID illness for the past week, but it is finally becoming too much to play through. The 24-year-old is listed as doubtful against the Bucks as a rest day seems needed. The expectation is Tatum will be ruled out prior to tip-off unless his health greatly improves.

— Keith Smith (@KeithSmithNBA) February 13, 2023
Probable: Malcolm Brogdon (Achilles soreness)
Questionable: Grant Williams (right elbow swelling) , Rob Williams (left ankle soreness)
Doubtful: Jayson Tatum (non-COVID illness)
Out: Jaylen Brown (facial fracture), Danilo Gallinari, Marcus Smart
It's worth noting that the Celtics have a game against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday before they enter the All-Star break. It'll be interesting to see if Tatum is able to give it a go in that contest or if the organization simply plays it safe. Keeping him healthy and safe is obviously of the utmost importance.
Tatum's likely absence will be a big blow to the Celtic's offense as he leads the team in points (30.5) and rebounds (8.6) per game. He won't be the only one missing, either, as Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown are both set to be sidelined. Grant Williams and Robert Williams remain questionable to play.
Jayson Tatum Fantasy Outlook and Prop Bets Today
Jayson Tatum is not currently listed with any player props on FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds. It just goes to show that he is not expected to be active tonight. In fact, the only Boston players listed with prop bets are Derrick White and Al Horford. The Celtics are slated as 8.5-point road underdogs and fading an injury-riddled team that hasn't won in Milwaukee since March of 2021 makes sense here.
Tatum is among the top options on the FanDuel DFS slate, though, checking in with the second-most expensive price tag overall ($10,800). The Duke product is averaging 50.2 FanDuel fantasy points per game, but draws a tough matchup no matter how you look at it. Milwaukee ranks third in defensive efficiency and is allowing the seventh-fewest FanDuel fantasy points to opposing small forwards.
