The Los Angeles Rams took care of business against the Arizona Cardinals in the Wild Card Round and will now travel to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It's never easy beating the defending Super Bowl Champions, but there is a lot to like about the Rams' chances of pulling off an upset.
Rams vs Buccaneers Odds
It's rather simple. All the Rams have to do to dethrone one of the best teams in the NFC Conference is exactly what they did back in Week 3. Yes, that regular season matchup took place in Los Angeles. However, the Rams looked unstoppable and took down the Bucs by a score of 34-24.
The Rams won that game by getting out to an early lead and keeping their foot on the pedal. In fact, quarterback Matthew Stafford had one of his best passing days of the year. He completed 27 of his 38 pass attempts threw for 343 yards (12.7 per completion) and a season-high 4 touchdowns.
Stafford has another opportunity to pick apart a shallow Buccaneers' secondary on Sunday. Tampa Bay is giving up the 11th-most passing yards per game this season and is dealing with injuries all over the place. It'll be crucial for the Rams to get the passing attack going early and often.
Aaron Donald and company showcased their authority on defense against the Cardinals by getting constant pressure on quarterback Kyler Murray. Making Tom Brady uncomfortable in the pocket will allow him less time to find the open receiver. That would be a huge advantage for Sean McVay's team.
The blueprint is set. The Rams can pull off the upset given they can make the Buccaneers constantly defend the pass and keep Brady on his toes in the backfield. For now, Los Angeles heads into this highly-anticipated game as 3-point road underdogs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
