It's become clear that the Chicago Bears are going to have to make some kind of move at wide receiver given No. 1 option Allen Robinson is testing out free agency. The list of candidates is slowly shrinking as NFL teams across the league continue to sign the top pass-catchers on the market.

One name that sticks out among the remaining free agents is JuJu Smith-Schuster. Not only does he thrive in catching passes out of the slot position, but Smith-Schuster also has the speed to be a legitimate downfield threat. The Bears should do whatever it takes to bring him to the Windy City.

Bears Free Agency

Even with Robinson on the field, Chicago still finished with the eighth-fewest receiving yards in the NFL last season (3,635). The receiving core struggled to get open on a consistent basis, especially near the end zone. In fact, only nine of the team's 16 receiving touchdowns were caught by WRs.

Chicago fans are going to be worried about Smith-Schuster's health and for good reason. The 25-year-old underwent shoulder surgery in 2021 and only played in 5 games overall. However, he averages a reliable 11.9 yards per reception and 61.2 receiving yards per game in his career.

The last time Smith-Schuster played at least 16 games in a season (2020), he racked up 831 yards and 9 touchdowns on 97 receptions. Those are marks Robinson was hitting at his best. Everything lines up for Smith-Schuster to be the dynamic offensive weapon quarterback Justin Fields is missing.

With nearly $32.9 million in available cap space, the Bears have the opportunity to outbid other teams and lock Smith-Schuster into a long-term deal. We'll see if that turns out to be the case. For now, Chicago has odds set at +8000 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
