To this point in the offseason, the 2019 Heisman Trophy race has really just been between two quarterbacks: Clemson's Trevor Lawrence and Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa.

However, a recent update in the odds to win this year's Heisman, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, has seen this gap narrow, as Oklahoma's Jalen Hurts' odds to win the award have spiked to +1200 from +2000, leaving him even with Ohio State QB Justin Fields for the third-best shot to win the Heisman in the nation.

As a graduate transfer from Alabama, Hurts has a lot to prove this season with the Sooners, but he also has a chance to make history. If Hurts is able to win the Heisman, he would make for the third consecutive Oklahoma quarterback to win the award after Baker Mayfield won it in 2017 and Kyler Murray won it last year.

Of course, Hurts has more to prove than that, though. You'd have to imagine he also wants a shot to beat the player that beat him out of a starting job at Alabama: Tagovailoa. Currently boasting the second-best odds in the Heisman race at +280, Tagovailoa was terrific for the Crimson Tide last season, completing 69 percent of his passes for 49 combined touchdowns with just six interceptions and more than 4,000 total yards.

Tagovailoa is again beat out by Clemson's Lawrence, who is the betting favorite at +200 odds. As a true freshman last season, Lawrence led the Tigers to a dominating performance in the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship game over Tua and Alabama.

While Hurts still has plenty of ground left to cover in the odds behind Tagovailoa and Lawrence, making a leap from +2000 to +1200 is a great way to start drawing the right kind of attention.
