Harrison Bader looked like a budding star for the St. Louis Cardinals and a promising fantasy baseball option for many heading into the 2019 season. However, a poor start to the year and a couple of his teammates tearing the cover off the ball have forced the 24-year-old out of the Cardinals' starting lineup for the foreseeable future.

While unfortunate, Bader's removal from being an everyday player is deserved. He's batting just .205 with three home runs through 30 games, which likely sent his fantasy owners scrambling to the waiver wire for a potential replacement. However, those owners didn't have to look very far, as two viable replacements exist on the Cardinals' roster in outfielders Dexter Fowler and Jose Martinez.

Fowler and Martinez have taken full advantage of Bader's demotion and have flourished at the plate. Fowler is batting .288 with 28 combined runs and RBI in 37 games while Martinez has been even better, hitting .331 with 21 runs scored and 20 RBI in 44 games.

As long as manager Mike Shildt continues to ride the hot hand, or hands, expect the pair to continue to be fantasy relevant.
