Gulfstream Horse Racing Picks for Friday 3/3/23

The Gulfstream Championship Meet continues ahead of Saturday's Fountain of Youth Stakes. Friday's March 3 card has 9 races with post time at 12:10 p.m. ET.
As always, check the program for scratches and changes, monitor the weather and keep an eye on the track conditions.
(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races after adjusting for track, distances, and conditions).

Race 6 is a Maiden Special Weight for older horses sprinting 6 furlongs on the turf. The numberFire data picks Feline (9/2) and Cindywholou (5/1) to battle for the win. But Top Race Reports goes for more value and capable runners to win with Queen of Light (6/1) and Mrs Whistler (8/1).
2. My Sunny Valentine and Mia Camila, Race 8
FanDuel Racing Odds: 5/1 and 6/1

Race 8 is an Allowance race for older Cal-bred fillies and mares at 1 mile on the turf. My Sunny Valentine (5/1) is the top pick by numberFire's data followed by Judge Judith (7/2) and Tamarindo (7/2) for leading trainer Saffie Joseph, Jr.
My Sunny Valentine breaks from the rail with leading jockey Jose Ortiz riding. She's been off for nearly a year, but had won 2-of-3 races at Gulfstream's winter meet. Mia Camila (6/1) can challenge from mid-pack as she strings races together off the layoff and fits well class wise.
3. Cappy and Red Hot and Blue, Race 9
FanDuel Racing Odds: 9/2 and 3/1
Bet Now at TVG | Bet Now at FanDuel
Race 9 is a Maiden Special Weight for older fillies and mares at 1 3/16 miles on the All Weather Track. A weaker group, and Red Hot and Blue (3/1) and Cappy (9/2) appear to be top challengers according to numberFire's algorithm.
The meets top jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. rides Cappy. She finished a close second here off a layoff last month as the 4/5 favorite in her second start coming in from Woodbine. Cappy now stretches out and switches from turf to a preferred All Weather Track.
