Gio Gonzalez recently opted out of his contract with the New York Yankees, but he's quickly found a new home with the Milwaukee Brewers. The southpaw actually finished last season with Milwaukee, so this move will reunite him with his former team.

One of the reasons Gonzalez signed with the Brewers was apparently the opportunity to join the starting rotation. Milwaukee has been struggling with injuries to starters like Freddy Peralta, so Gonzalez's signing comes at a great time, especially since the Brewers have dropped seven of their last eight games.

Now that it appears Gonzalez will be used as a starter with the Brewers, he should be on everyone's fantasy radar. In his five regular-season starts with the Brewers last year, Gonzalez posted a 2.13 ERA and racked up 22 strikeouts.

While Gonzalez is unlikely to maintain that pace, he could help any fantasy team in need of more depth at starting pitcher.

Additionally, even though the Brewers have been in a slump lately, they have one of the most explosive offenses in the MLB. Milwaukee averages 2.0 home runs per game, which ranks 2nd in the MLB. If Gonzalez pitches anything like he did last season, he could be a solid source of wins as well.

All in all, Gonzalez is unlikely to drastically change your fantasy team's fortunes, but he could provide valuable depth.
