The New York Giants are currently nursing several injuries ahead of Week 1. The offensive line has taken recent hits with Kyle Murphy and Ted Larsen going on IR, while Shane Lemieux remains sidelined as well.
In order to beef up their o-line depth, the Giants have signed an established starter to their practice squad.
Matt Skura Giants
New York is expected to bring in OL Matt Skura as they battle the injury bug. The addition could turn out to be huge if he ends up turning things around in a new environment.
Skura started 51 games for the Baltimore Ravens over four seasons, but he was benched at the end of last year due to issues with snapping the ball. He then signed with the Miami Dolphins this offseason, though they recently cut him for roster space.
It's a plus that Skura has starting expenses at both center and right guard. However, the Giants are getting him when his value couldn't be lower.
It's possible the former undrafted Duke product never recovers from his recent struggles, but adding him to the practice squad is a low-risk move that could pay off for New York.
