In 2008, the San Francisco Giants created the Wall of Fame outside Oracle Park, a place to honor the accomplishments of the franchise's greatest players and contributors alike. One more special name will be added to that wall in 2022, none other than two-time World Series champion outfielder Hunter Pence.

The Giants revealed plans for Pence's enshrinement on Monday, including a date for the ceremony.

The action will go down on Saturday, Sept. 17 when San Francisco hosts arch-rival Los Angeles Dodgers at 6:05 p.m. PT.

As part of the announcement, the team's Twitter account posted a wonderful tribute video that included highlights and sound clips from teammates Brandon Crawford, Buster Posey and Pence himself.

Pence goes down as a recent Giants legend thanks to his integral part into World Series championships during the 2012 and 2014 seasons. In nine World Series games, Pence touts a stellar .390/.435/.561 slash line, including six RBIs.

Pence issued an emotional statement in response to his honoring.

"I'm truly humbled by this honor. To be included among people who I consider legends of the organization is surreal and I'm overwhelmed with gratitude to even be considered. The Giants organization and the San Francisco community are my family. This honor wouldn't be possible if not for the love, support, and dedication I've shared with them. I can't thank the club, my teammates, and the fans enough for the unforgettable memories."

Perhaps best known for his infectious personality and visible joy while on a baseball diamond, Pence spent eight seasons during his 14-year career in San Francisco. He slashed .265/.322/.429 during that stretch with 95 home runs and 412 RBIs.
