The San Francisco Giants have their sights set on a deep postseason run, likely finishing the season with the best record in baseball. That pathway just got a little easier on Saturday with the latest news on closer Jake McGee.

San Francisco activated McGee from the 10-day injured list, setting him up just in time for the postseason.

In his recent absence, rookie Camilo Doval has shined since taking over the closer role. In fact, Doval hasn't allowed a run in September while notching 3 saves.

McGee's return means the return of a 12-year MLB veteran lefty who has pitched to a sub-3.00 ERA in 2021. In 62 appearances, the veteran is pitching to a 2.72 ERA with 31 saves.

The Giants close out the season with two more games against the San Diego Padres after clinching a postseason spot. With a win, or a Los Angeles Dodgers loss, the Giants will clinch home-field advantage throughout the postseason and the National League's top seed.
