The San Francisco Giants have gotten off to a shockingly good start in the 2021 campaign. In what is arguably the toughest division in baseball, with its inclusion of the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, the Giants sit in first place at 34-21.

However, the Giants were dealt a bit of bad news when their starting right fielder, Mike Yastrzemski, was diagnosed with a sprained right thumb after he lost a battle with the right field wall at Oracle Park on Tuesday night.

The good news is the X-rays came back negative for structural damage, so it doesn't appear to be an injury that will keep him sidelined for an extended period of time.

While the Giants have seen a ton of success this season, Yastrzemski himself has struggled. He's hitting just .222 in 45 games this season. The Giants do have some outfield depth behind Yastrzemski with Steven Duggar and Austin Slater, but losing a starter hurts.

Currently, the Giants own +1400 odds to win the NL West, according to the latest MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
