College football bowl season is finally here. One intriguing matchup this year is the Gator Bowl, which will pit the No. 17 Wake Forest Demon Deacons against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

The 2021 Gator Bowl will take place on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021.

This year's Gator Bowl kicks off at 11:00 a.m. ET on Dec. 31.

Wake Forest will square off against Rutgers at the TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, FL.

Gator Bowl History

The Gator Bowl has been played since 1946. It has featured teams from the SEC, Big Ten and ACC conferences.

Wake Forest hasn't competed at the Gator Bowl since the inaugural event. They defeated South Carolina, 26-14, back in 1946.

Rutgers has never appeared in this bowl game. They defeated North Carolina, 40-21, in the 2014 Quick Lane Bowl, their last bowl game appearance.
