The Atlanta Falcons have very limited cap space as they try to fill significant needs in the secondary and defensive line. Atlanta ranked dead last in 2020 in pass defense, allowing 293.6 yards per game.

Former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith is the Falcons new head coach. It will be up to new defensive coordinator Dean Pees to improve the defense, though. With price a factor for the strapped Falcons, here are three players they could target in free agency.

3. Adoree Jackson, CB, Tennessee Titans

The Falcons started the free agency period by signing former Las Vegas Raiders safety Erik Harris. They could use a proven cornerback, and the new coach from Tennessee is familiar with 2017 first-round pick, Adoree Jackson. His ProFootballFocus grades were poor last year, but he spent most of the season on injured reserve and only played three games. His 2019 grades were solid in coverage and overall (76.2) while playing 11 games. Jackson would likely be looking at a much bigger deal if he was healthy, but his injury history could means he comes at a significant discount.

2. Ryan Kerrigan, EDGE, Washington Football Team

The lack of a quality edge rusher has been the Achilles heel of this Atlanta defense for quite some time. The Falcons were a below-average pass-rushing unit in 2020, generating just 29 sacks as a team. Ryan Kerrigan has 95.5 sacks for his career and had 13 sacks in back-to-back years not long ago (2017 and 2018). In 2020 he registered 5.5 sacks while playing in a more limited role than usual. The 33-year-old can be signed at a reasonable price, and the Falcons' need for pass-rushers makes Kerrigan a viable option.

1. Kenny Vaccaro, SS, Tennessee Titans

Kenny Vaccaro's PFF grade fell off in 2020. But the new coaches are familiar with the 30-year-old veteran, who has been a strong tackler in previous seasons. Adding Vaccaro could be a nice, low-cost way to offset the loss of Keanu Neal, who bolted to join the Dallas Cowboys in free agency.
