The Philadelphia Phillies' pitching depth is being tested after losing several players to the COVID reserve list. It couldn't have come at a worse time as the team heads into a double-header on Sunday and a seven-game road trip right after.

Top prospect Francisco Morales has been called up to help boost the Phillies' bullpen, and he's made a nice choice for his jersey number in the majors.

Morales has chosen No. 69 as he prepares for his taste of MLB action. He's actually the first player in Phillies history to don that number, making his call-up even more special.

The 22-year-old has worked his way up in the minors after he was signed in 2016. Once the top-ranked pitching prospect by Baseball America, his profile has fallen a bit after dealing with control issues.

He's looked much better to start the 2022 season at Double-A Reading, recording a 0.55 ERA over 16 and 1/3 innings along with 28 strikeouts. The righty's recent transition to a bullpen role looks to be paying dividends, but he could provide some long relief work for Philadelphia in his first call-up given the lack of healthy arms.
