This year's incoming NFL rookie class has it tough. Team facilities have been locked down for much of the offseason, so they've been severely limited in their ability to get together in person with teammates and get acquainted to the NFL lifestyle.
The Denver Broncos have been trying to help their rookies on that front by getting them some guidance through Zoom calls. Most recently, the team got future Hall-of-Fame QB Peyton Manning to talk to the rookies.
Manning emphasized the importance of preparation to the rookies, stressing that they should treat practice like a game. Few players could set a better example on that front than Manning, who had a legendary work ethic, knowledge of the game and attention to detail.
This is the second former star player that head coach Vic Fangio has had address his rookies, as Troy Polamalu has also been on a meeting with the team.
Manning has also reportedly been talking with sophomore quarterback Drew Lock, which bodes well for his development as he heads into his second NFL season with high expectations.
It remains to be seen how much of an impact these offseason meetings will have, but it's great to see Fangio trying to get his team every edge possible as the young group looks to come out strong in 2020.
