James Paxton's return to the Seattle Mariners got off to a rocky start just 24 pitches into his outing.

James Paxton Injury Update

Paxton felt something in his pitching hand, which was enough to force him off the mound during a pitch sequence with Andrew Vaughn at the plate.

After undergoing an MRI, Daniel Kramer who covers the Mariners for MLB.com, reports that Paxton will be placed on the 10-day injury list with a forearm strain.

Following the game yesterday, Mariners manager Scott Servais classified the injury as exactly that. Paxton later added that the injury was related to the strained left flexor tendon he sustained last year, which cut short his season after just five starts. The good news is that he was in much less pain this time around. With Paxton out, reliever Nick Margevicius is expected to fill his spot in the rotation.

The Mariners are back in action on Wednesday as they look to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the White Sox. Be sure to head over to FanDuel Sportsbook for all your MLB action, including daily odds, fantasy baseball, team and player futures, along with same-game parlays.
