Fernando Tatis Jr. Finally Returns to Form in Third Rehab Start

San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. has plenty of rust to shake off as he works his way back from a wrist fracture. The stud shortstop took a major step in his recovery by starting a rehab assignment in Double-A this past weekend, though his first two games were completely forgettable.
On Tuesday, though, Tatis finally looked like his old self again.

Tatis was flawless against the Frisco RoughRiders, reaching base in all four plate appearances. He started the game with a leadoff double that led to a run scored. He also drew two walks, one of which led to his another run scored in the second.
The 2021 All-Star finished his night with a hard-hit triple to the warning track in right field, flying around the bases and sliding into third base with confidence as he popped up to his feet in one fluid motion.
This showing is something to get Padres fans excited. Tatis was a glaring 0-5 over his first two rehab games, striking out once and also committing an error in his first game at shortstop. Tuesday's performance is much more what San Diego is expecting to see in his return, so it's great to see the slugger finally get out of his rut.
Hopefully this is just the start of a big comeback for the 23-year-old. He's expected to return sometime this month.
