Sports betting fans in Connecticut can look forward to playing at a first-rate sportsbook soon after FanDuel Group announced that it has agreed on a new partnership with Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment. The deal signed will give the Flutter Entertainment-owned brand market access to carry out retail and online sports betting as well as iGaming, and Daily Fantasy Sports operations in Connecticut.

These new options will be introduced via Mohegan Gaming’s Mohegan Sun property in Uncasville. While they aren’t expected to be a problem, the plans are still pending until they receive the required regulatory and licensing approvals.

Details of New Deal

The first and perhaps most important outcome of this partnerships is that sports bettors and fans in Connecticut will be able to enjoy FanDuel’s premium mobile betting experience as early as this fall. Bettors will be able to wager on various markets, including professional football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and more. Apart from that, FanDuel will offer a mobile casino and daily fantasy sports experience under MGE’s flagship Mohegan Suns brand.

According to the fine print of the new deal, FanDuel and MGE will commission a temporary retail sportsbook within MGE’s Mohegan Sun resort. This sportsbook will offer four (4) live betting windows and sixteen (16) self-service betting terminals. A more permanent ‘signature lounge’ retail sportsbook location cannot be opened until the appropriate licenses and regulatory approvals. However, the two companies believe that it will be sorted out when winter rolls around.

Reaction to New Partnership

When speaking about the deal, President and CEO of MGE, Ray Pineault, said, “We are excited to work with FanDuel, one of the leading sports tech entertainment companies in the U.S, to bring the brand’s innovative sports betting and iGaming solutions to Mohegan Sun's Connecticut. This partnership is a priority for Mohegan Digital as we look to grow and enhance our casino, sportsbook, and online operations in Connecticut and beyond. We’re confident that FanDuel will deliver a best-in-class digital and in-person experience for our loyal guests.”

FanDuel Group President, Amy Howe, said; “Mohegan Sun is an iconic casino and entertainment destination in the Northeast, and we are excited to announce our first tribal gaming partnership with one of the leading tribal operators in the United States.”

She added: “We have some incredible plans for the retail space at Mohegan Sun, with the potential to be the largest FanDuel sportsbook in the United States. When we combine the retail sports betting experience with the opportunity for online sports betting and iGaming, Connecticut will be a key state for us as we look towards the start of football season.

There’s no doubt that there’s work left to be done before this deal reaches its full potential. But in the meantime, Connecticut sports bettors can look forward to being able to enjoy FanDuel’s excellent game-day atmosphere as they wager on a variety of sporting events at the 1563-room Mohegan Sun property.
