Falcons Rumors Link Team to Deebo Samuel Trade Talks
It's only been a few hours since All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel told Jeff Darlington that he has requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers. Talks have been going on for long before that, though, and it turns out the Atlanta Falcons are one of a few teams who have already inquired about the 25-year-old.

The Falcons reportedly called the 49ers to ask about the idea of trading Samuel just as a number of other NFL front offices did. While San Francisco has remained adamant that they do not plan to trade their top offensive weapon, their hands may be tied if Samuel stays committed to wanting out.
Atlanta would be an interesting landing spot for the former South Carolina standout given Cordarrelle Patterson already operates in a similar role. Both players are regarded as "positionless" and can line up anywhere on the offense. They also both racked up at least 1,100 yards from scrimmage in 2021.
There's no denying that adding Samuel to the mix would shake things up for the Falcons. Only one wide receiver on the current depth chart caught a pass for Atlanta last season as Calvin Ridley was suspended for the entirety of the 2022 season due to betting on games.
Samuel uses his speed and elusiveness to break tackles on the regular, which led to a total of 768 yards after the catch in 2021 (No. 2 in NFL). The three-year pro also led the league in yards per reception (18.2) and posted a career-high 14 touchdowns in 16 games played (15 starts).
New quarterback Marcus Mariota would surely benefit from another weapon being added to his arsenal, so Falcons fans should keep a close eye on any updates regarding Samuel's status.
