The Atlanta Falcons were riding high after notching a fourth-quarter comeback win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 4. On Monday, though, the team was dealt some unfortunate injury news.

Running back Cordarrelle Patterson is slated to miss some time after being placed on the injured reserve list.

Patterson has been nursing a knee injury recently, and the issue has progressed to where he needs a procedure to correct it. This move will knock him out for at least the next four games, and potentially longer if any complications arise.

The veteran was off to a blazing start to begin the 2022 season, racking up 302 yards and two touchdowns on the ground over the first three games. He was then limited to just 38 yards in Week 4, and managed to play just 29% of the team's offensive snaps as his injury clearly held him back.

Patterson will now miss Atlanta's upcoming matchups against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals and Carolina Panthers. Rookie Tyler Allgeier and the recently promoted Caleb Huntley could carry the load for the offense averaging the sixth-most rushing attempts per game to begin the year.

With Patterson sidelined, the Falcons head into Week 5 as big 8-point underdogs against Tampa Bay, according to NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
