The Atlanta Falcons quietly had a solid 2019 season. They never received much hype, but they finished second in the NFC South with a respectable 7-9 record. That put them ahead of the much higher regarded Tampa Bay Buccaneers, thanks to an edge in tiebreakers.
Early betting odds for the 2020 NFL season don't shine a great light on the Falcons' outlook for the year ahead, however.
With that in mind, here's a full preview of the Falcons' 2020 NFL season potential outcomes and projected achievements, according to odds from FanDuel Sportsbook.
Falcons Win Total
The Falcons are underdogs to improve on their 2019 mark of 7 wins. The over/under on their 2020 win total is set at 7.5, with the over getting +100 odds, compared to -120 on the under.
Falcons Odds to Make NFL Playoffs
Of course, with such a low projected win total, Atlanta is an underdog to make the postseason, even with the expansion to 14 teams. The Falcons' odds to miss the postseason are a whopping -270, while they are +210 to make it.
Falcons Odds to Win NFC South
Atlanta has already been competing with one of the NFL's best teams in the New Orleans Saints, and now Tom Brady has joined the NFC South as well, leaving Atlanta a distant third in odds to win the division, at +600.
Falcons Odds to Win NFC Championship
Being unlikely to even make the playoffs, Atlanta isn't getting much respect in their odds to win the NFC Championship Game. At +2100, only five teams in the conference have worse odds.
Falcons Odds to Win Super Bowl LV
Tied at No. 20 in the NFL, the Falcons have +4400 odds to win Super Bowl LV. That gives them an implied probability of just 2.5 percent — or a 1-in-44 chance. With the window quickly closing on Matt Ryan's prime, those odds have to be discouraging for the Falcons faithful.
