Epicenter Preakness Stakes Odds and Post Position

Epicenter currently has 6-5 odds to win the Preakness Stakes in 2022. That has him as the top favorite to win the Preakness Stakes. Epicenter drew the 8th post position for the Preakness Stakes, so he will be starting from the outside in the 9 horse field.

Epicenter Horse Trainer and Jockey

Epicenter is trained by Steve Asmussen. Asmussen is an excellent trainer and currently the leading North American trainer in wins and a Hall of Fame trainer. He’s a two-time Preakness Stakes winner, although his last win came back in 2009. His most recent Triple Crown win is the 2016 Belmont Stakes.

Epicenter will be jockeyed by Joel Rosario. Rosario is a top jockey, having finished number 1 in earnings in 2021. He has never won the Preakness Stakes, but claims wins in the 2013 Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes in 2014 and 2019.

Epicenter Race History

One look at Epicenter’s career record and you can see why he is the favorite in the 2022 Preakness Stakes. He finished second in the 2022 Kentucky Derby, behind longshot Rich Strike (who will not be running in the Preakness Stakes). He also claimed first place finishes in the Louisiana Derby and Risen Star races on the 2022 Road to the Kentucky Derby.

Epicenter Prediction and Pick

Epicenter has an excellent race history and is led by one of the finest trainers and one of the top jockeys. Many people are expecting Epicenter to get the win, and the odds reflect that. The 6-5 odds don’t make him a very lucrative choice, so you may want to select Epicenter as your “key” in a Exacta or Trifecta key bet, and then add in a few of your other picks as horses that will finish 2nd or 3rd to sweeten up your payout.
