Elijah Mitchell Injury Update Threatens Week 14 Fantasy Outlook

Elijah Mitchell came out of his team's Week 13 game with a concussion. He'll need to pass through protocols before being cleared for this Sunday, which already puts his playing status in jeopardy.

But another injury is also bothering Mitchell heading into Week 14 that threatens his fantasy outlook.
In addition to being in concussion protocol, 49ers' RB Elijah Mitchell also underwent an MRI on his knee that came back and showed what HC Kyle Shanahan termed as an "irritation."

Elijah Mitchell Fantasy Outlook
The rookie has some knee "irritation" going on along with his concussion, which is concerning news. There was no major damage found on the MRI, so it's possible the RB's workload is catching up to him.
In eight starts this season, Mitchell is averaging a hefty 18.3 rushing attempts plus 2.1 receptions per game. That workload has helped the rookie rank as the current RB24 in PPR scoring.
The 49ers' reliance on Mitchell has made him appealing in fantasy and likely helped out some lucky managers, but that use could also lead to him possibly sitting out in Week 14. And that's not even considering the concussion, which can be a tricky injury to beat in a short amount of time.
JaMycal Hasty Fantasy Outlook
If Mitchell can't go, JaMycal Hasty would currently be San Francisco's RB1 with Trey Sermon, Trenton Cannon and Jeff Wilson injured as well.
Hasty could absorb most (if not all) of Mitchell's 20.4 touches per game, making him a starting option based on volume alone. And he's rostered in only 18% of Yahoo fantasy leagues, making him an easily attainable insurance plan.
Whoever starts for the 49ers will get a great matchup against a Cincinnati Bengals defense allowing the ninth-most PPR points per game to RBs this season.
