Eagles News: Team Visits With Concerning Free-Agent Quarterback

The Philadelphia Eagles' handling quarterback position has been one of the biggest storylines of the 2021 NFL offseason.
They traded Carson Wentz, suggesting Jalen Hurts was their franchise quarterback. But they've also reportedly been aggressively pursuing a trade for Deshaun Watson.
And now, in one of the strangest developments of all, they're bringing Joe Flacco for a free agent visit.

Obviously Flacco would be signed solely as a backup, but even that move would be baffling. Flacco has not rushed for more than 60 yards in a single season since 2014. Jalen Hurts rushed for over 60 yards three times in his four starts last year.
If Hurts is going to be their starter, the offense should be tailored to his strengths. And that kind of offense is just about the opposite of what you'd draw up for Flacco. So if Hurts got injured and Flacco had to step in, things could get really ugly.
And Watson may not be quite the rusher Hurts is, but he's certainly much closer in mobility to Hurts than to the 36-year-old Flacco.
Having veteran leadership in the locker room is all well and good, but even entertaining the idea of signing Flacco makes no sense for the Eagles.
