The Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up for a Week 9 clash against the Houston Texans. Playing on Thursday Night Football presents a slight disadvantage given the short turnaround after just suiting on Sunday.
It turns out at least two players won't be able to join the Eagles for this primetime showdown.
Defensive tackle Jordan Davis and cornerback Josiah Scott have been officially ruled out for Week 9. Those were the only two players sidelined during Tuesday's practice, though, so Philadelphia will be close to full strength in this one.
Davis went down with a scary-looking lower-leg injury this past Sunday. It's since been revealed he suffered a high-ankle sprain, which will likely sideline him for 4-6 weeks but also means he should be able to return at some point in 2022.
Scott, meanwhile, also left Sunday's contest with an injury. He also hurt his ankle, and it's significant enough to sideline him for Thursday. Scott's played primarily on special teams, though he also made two spot starts during Weeks 4-5, recording 2 tackles for loss and a pass breakup.
Despite losing two key depth pieces, Philadelphia is expected to trounce Houston. The Eagles are big 14-point favorites over the Texans, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
