The Philadelphia Eagles have rebounded after a poor start, and they're now on the verge of clinching a spot in the playoffs. It's been quite the turnaround for Nick Sirianni's squad, though they need to take care of business down the stretch to make sure they return to the postseason.

Philly has the chance to clinch a playoff berth in Week 17, and some COVID-related news around the league has made that possibility even stronger.

Eagles Playoff Scenarios

The Eagles can earn a playoff spot with a win in Week 17 over the Washington Football Team, plus a loss by the Minnesota Vikings and a San Francisco 49ers win.

Philadelphia now faces a potentially easier path to a Week 17 victory after WFT running back Antonio Gibson was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list. Gibson is the lone bright spot on that offense, and his absence leaves unproven backup Jaret Patterson as the likely starter.

In other COVID-related news, Vikings QB Kirk Cousins has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers after testing positive. Cousins is unvaccinated, leaving the unimpressive Sean Mannion and the inexperienced Kellen Mond as Minnesota's options against the top team in the NFC.

With the 49ers set to face the 4-11 Houston Texans, the Eagles have a real shot at punching their playoff ticket in Week 17.

Philadelphia is a 4.5-point road favorite over Washington, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
