Eagles Open Up as Ridiculous Road Favorites Against the Redskins in Week 1

After another season that went in the wrong direction, the Washington Redskins decided to tear it all down again, this time bringing in head coach Ron Rivera as the hopeful savior. The Philadelphia Eagles already found their leader, Doug Pederson, who has made winning look easy with a 38-26 record since becoming the franchise's head coach.
The Eagles not only went 2-0 versus the Skins in 2019, but they have won their last six against the rival and have not lost a game to them since 2016 (when they were actually swept by Washington). Can they break the losing streak in 2020?
Eagles vs Redskins Spread Week 1
The odds on FanDuel Sportsbook would suggest that the answer is no, making Philly a 6.5-point favorite on the road in Week 1. The Eagles covered this number in Washington last year, with a 10-point win over the Redskins, but actually only won by five at home in Philadelphia.
This is not the same Redskins team however. Aside from the coaching change, Washington has had more roster moves than almost any other NFL team. Kyle Allen will compete with Dwayne Haskins for the starting quarterback job, but some of the biggest additions will be on the defensive side with Chase Young, Ronald Darby and Kendall Fuller joining the ranks.

That's just down right frightening to any NFL offense.
The Eagles have also gotten better this offseason. For starters, they got healthier after all the injuries in 2019, but they also brought in Javon Hargrave, Nickell Robey-Coleman and Darius Slay to bolster this defense. On the other side of the ball, Jalen Reagor and Marquise Goodwin are added weapons for Carson Wentz.
A look at the reshaped Eagles secondary:

CB1: Darius Slay
FS: Rodney McLeod
SS: Jalen Mills
3rd S/Sub-LB: Will Parks
Slot: Nickell Robey-Coleman
CB2/depth: Rasul Douglas, Avonte Maddox, Sidney Jones, Cre'von LeBlanc
This is a stout Eagles team that could compete for another Super Bowl if all goes well in 2020. The Redskins should be better under Ron Rivera, but they may take some time to gel on offense. Overall, this number seems fair for the Week 1 slate.
