Eagles Named Perfect Fit for Intriguing Free-Agent Linebacker

The Philadelphia Eagles were one of nine NFL teams to not have a single player finish with at least eight sacks during the 2021 season. Their lack of pass-rushing talent has bitten them in the past, which makes them being named the perfect fit for free agent linebacker Haason Reddick intriguing.

Reddick has been on fire since the start of the 2020 season, racking up a total of 34 quarterback hits and 6 forced fumbles. His consistency may be his best attribute, though. The 27-year-old has missed just one game over the last two years and has posted double-digit sacks in back-to-back campaigns.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are coming off a season in which they ranked 31st in the NFL with 29.0 team sacks. Outside of starter TJ Edwards, the team has no true depth at the LB position, either. Alex Singleton and Genard Avery have combined for only 9.5 sacks over the course of their careers.
Philadelphia has a projected $20.8 million in available cap space, yet may not have to use a whole lot to bring Reddick into the mix. The former Temple standout signed a one-year deal last offseason and may be open to signing another short-term contract in order to come back to his home city.
The Eagles will look to make the playoffs once again in 2022 and stay competitive in a shaky NFC East division. Signing a defensive playmaker like Reddick would certainly improve their chances.
For now, Philadelphia has odds set at +3300 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
