The Philadelphia Eagles may have traded away one of their 2022 first-round picks, but they still have an opportunity to draft some elite playmakers early on. The front office could easily be looking to add another weapon on offense given wide receiver Jameson Williams is visiting Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Eagles NFL Draft

This wouldn't be the first time the Eagles take a Crimson Tide pass-catcher in the first round. DeVonta Smith was selected 10th overall in 2021 and went on to set the franchise record for receiving yards as a rookie (916). It's safe to say the depth behind him is lacking, though.

Quez Watkins, Jalen Reagor and Zach Pascal make up the rest of the receiving core, yet none of those players have ever posted more than 647 yards in one season. Adding Williams to the mix would give quarterback Jalen Hurts a dangerous downfield weapon capable of breaking loose at any time.

Williams destroyed opposing defenses during his junior year and racked up 1,572 yards to go along with 15 touchdowns on 79 receptions (19.9 average). Even though he tore his ACL during the National Championship, the 21-year-old recently said he expects to be ready by the start of training camp.

The risk that comes along with drafting Williams could cause him to be on the board when the Eagles are on the clock at No. 15 or No. 18. It's worth noting that the only other WR to have a pre-draft visit with Philadelphia has been Georgia's George Pickens. The team may be zeroing in on its top targets.

All of the first round action will go down when the 2022 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 28.
