The Carson Wentz era came to a messy end for the Philadelphia Eagles. To avoid doing the same with Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia will need to upgrade this skill-position group. Thankfully, Todd McShay projects the Eagles will do just that in his latest mock draft.
McShay projects Philadelphia will pick Florida Gators' superstar tight end Kyle Pitts at No. 6 overall.
This pick works on a lot of different levels. Pitts is the clear-cut best pass-catching tight end in this class. Adding Pitts would bolster this skill-position group while giving the Eagles a perfect replacement for Zach Ertz, who is likely to be traded or released this offseason.
Pitts is a size-speed freak. He's a 6-foot-6, 240-pound tight end who received a 96.2 grade from ProFootballFocus as a receiver. That's not just tops among tight ends, it was the best mark PFF gave to any receiver in this class.
Appearing in eight games in 2020, the Gator racked up racked up 770 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. That's some truly elite production.
If Pitts is still on the board when the Eagles are on the clock, GM Howie Roseman is going to have a tough time passing him up.
