The Houston Astros are built for a playoff run in 2021 and currently sit just 1.5 games back in the AL West division with a record of 28-24. Despite a string of injuries suffered by the starting rotation, it seems the Astros' luck may be turning around as manager Dusty Baker gave an optimistic injury update on Lance McCullers Jr.
Lance McCullers Jr. Injury Update
McCullers was recently placed on the 10-day injured list due to right shoulder soreness. Baker explained how the move was simply precautionary, but it is always worrisome to see that type of injury to a starter.
Houston can't seem to catch a break lately as McCullers was placed on the IL just as starters Framber Valdez and Jake Odorizzi were activated to return.
It's great news to see that the 27-year-old hurler is expected to be back on the diamond in just a few weeks, though. McCullers is already playing catch and working out, but just needs to get himself back up to game speed.
The 2017 All-Star has posted a 2.96 ERA through 51.2 innings pitched (9 starts). McCullers has a 3-1 record on the season and has struck out 59 batters as well. Astros fans can breathe a sigh of relief as it looks like the team will get back its No. 1 pitcher sooner than originally expected.
