The Philadelphia Eagles are struggling, and the player taking the brunt of the blame has been quarterback Carson Wentz. Considering Philly spent a second-round pick on Jalen Hurts, Wentz' struggles naturally have some people talking about a QB change.
Doug Pederson stood by Wentz today, but his answer to the question didn't exactly sound certain.
Between "Not today on Wednesday" and dancing around the question before committing to Wentz as the starter come Monday night, it sure sounds like Pederson has been toying with the idea of making a change under center.
While some of Wentz' struggles can be attributed to offensive line play, it's not surprising that there are rumblings about replacing the QB that currently leads the NFL in interceptions thrown, with 14 picks and just 14 touchdowns.
Jalen Hurts has only thrown 2 passes so far in his rookie season, but he also has 56 rushing yards on 12 carries, showing some versatility. That's nothing new, either. In his senior year at Oklahoma, Hurts threw for 3,851 yards and 32 touchdowns while adding 1,298 yards and 20 touchdowns with his legs.
If Wentz can't get it done against the Seahawks and their terrible pass defense this week, Hurts could get a chance to show what he's capable of at the NFL level.
