Dolphins Sign Pro-Bowl Free Agent in NFL.com Projections

The Miami Dolphins went 8-1 to close out the 2021 NFL season but still ended up missing the playoffs. Now, they'll turn to free agency in hopes of making signings that will lead them to a postseason return.
Free Agency Predictions
NFL.com gave a prediction for each team a free agent could be matched with this offseason, and the Dolphins are projected to add a former Pro-Bowler in the form of San Francisco 49ers offensive guard Laken Tomlinson.

Dolphins Free Agent Rumors
If Miami wants Tua Tagovailoa to succeed under center, management needs to build a better offensive line around him. After all, the Dolphins allowed 40 sacks last season, which was tied for the 11th-most across the NFL.
With Mike McDaniel being the new coach going forward, it makes sense that he'd want someone he's familiar with and can trust. Tomlinson fits that description perfectly after having spent the last four seasons with McDaniel in San Francisco.
Not only would Tomlinson provide Tagovailoa with better protection, but he'd also help Miami's run game. The 49ers likely wouldn't have had as dangerous of a run attack this year without him, which is the same kind of play the Dolphins need after racking up just 92.2 rushing yards per game (No. 29).
Even if they end up signing Tomlinson, the Dolphins need to make more movies before being viewed as a championship contender. They currently have +4000 odds (No. 21) to win Super Bowl 57 next season, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
