Dolphins Sign Former CFL Star

The Miami Dolphins' most pressing issue this offseason is finding a new head coach, but that doesn't mean roster-building moves will go completely by the wayside. Teams are busy identifying players worth taking a shot on with low-risk contracts and hoping they find a diamond in the rough.
Miami has done just that by signing a Canadian Football League star to a reserve/futures deal.

DeVonte Dedmon Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins have agreed to a contract with DeVonte Dedmon, who starred in the CFL this past season.
Dedmon, a wide receiver and return specialist, played college football at William & Mary. He then signed with the Ottawa Redblacks of the CFL in 2019. Despite playing in just five games that year, he recorded a combined 881 return yards and 2 TDs.
Dedmon then broke out in 2021, recording 1,223 kickoff returns yards and 1 TD, along with 737 punt return yards and 2 more TDs. His dominance in the return game earned him the CFL's Most Outstanding Special Teams Player award for this past season.

Ottawa recently released Dedmon so he could pursue his NFL dreams, and it appears he had a strong market to land with Miami this quickly. Hopefully Dedmon's electric return abilities translate with ease and he's able to give a huge boost to the Dolphins' special teams unit.
