3 Most Likely Replacements for Chan Gailey as Dolphins Offensive Coordinator

After a poor performance and costly mistake in Week 17, Chan Gailey resigned from his position as Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator. Now, head coach Brian Flores will be tasked with finding an offensive mind who can help Tua Tagovailoa's growth, especially during a rookie season where he struggled and failed to beat out veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick for the starting job.
With that in mind, here are three likely replacements for Gailey as the Dolphins' offensive coordinator.
1. Mika Kafka, QB Coach, Kansas City Chiefs
Mike Kafka has been with the Kansas City Chiefs since 2017, meaning he's spent his first years of coaching involved with a budding superstar in Patrick Mahomes. The former Texas Tech QB has grown into one of the league's best players on a prolific offense, and Kafka's role in that should be valued by Miami. Tagovailoa needs someone who can further his development, and who better than a former QB who has coaching experience with a former MVP quarterback?
2. Ken Dorsey, QB Coach, Buffalo Bills
Ken Dorsey has been well-traveled in his coaching career since hanging up his cleats. He was the Carolina Panthers' QB coach from 2013-2017, being directly part of Cam Newton's MVP season and the team's Super Bowl run in 2015. For the last two years he's worked with Josh Allen in Buffalo, who's ascended to star status in 2020. Dorsey is another QB-turned-coach with valuable sideline experience that would be perfect for Tua.
3. Pat O'Hara, QB Coach, Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans have a top-4 offense this season, and that's in part due to the growth of Ryan Tannehill. Pat O'Hara has been Tannehill's QB coach for the past two seasons, helping the former No. 8 pick turn in one of his most productive seasons ever in 2020 with 3,819 yards and 33 TDs (a career high). Tannehill isn't an elite rusher, but he posted a career-best 7 rushing TDs this season, so it's helpful that O'Hara has experience with a running QB. The Titan QB coach is a slightly under-the-radar candidate who could be a sneaky great hire.
