The Miami Dolphins seemingly have a bright new future ahead. After an offseason that saw them select Tua Tagovailoa with the No. 5 overall pick in the NFL Draft and make a flurry of talented signings in free agency, Dolphins fans should be happy with the direction of their franchise after three years of disappointment.

However, according to the oddsmakers at FanDuel Sportsbook, you shouldn't be sold on the 2020 Dolphins. Despite some individual talent, the roster is still has some holes. In addition, no one is certain whether Tagovailoa will be able to lead a team to the playoffs in his first season, especially coming off a major hip injury.

Dolphins' Odds to Make the Playoffs

Miami currently sits at +500 to make the playoffs, an implied probability of 16.7%. Those are the worst odds in the AFC East and the third-worst odds in the NFL.

The Dolphins have a number of factors going against them. Although the New England Patriots have lost Tom Brady, they still have a stifling defense and Bill Belichick to lead them. The Buffalo Bills are also in line for a good season after making the playoffs last year.

In fact, the Dolphins' odds are even behind the New York Jets at +340. Miami finished last in DVOA in 2019, and it will take more than one offseason to make this a playoff team. 2021 could be a different story, but the odds suggest the Dolphins are likely headed for another rebuilding year.
