This settles one of the biggest debates that was raging in the weeks leading up to the draft — would Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert go off the board first?
The pair both had their draft stock fluctuate regularly, but by the time things kicked off, Tua's odds to be drafted by Miami had skyrocketed to -200. He was also a -205 favorite over Herbert (+158) to be drafted first in head-to-head odds.
Considering Tua was widely projected to the Dolphins at No. 5 for the majority of the offseason, this could be a lesson in not overreacting to news and rumors. Sharp bettors were able to get plus odds for weeks on the scenario that was widely accepted as a foregone conclusion for much of the offseason.
