DK Metcalf Defends Drew Lock After Trade to Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks will undergo a massive change under center in 2022 following the team's trade of Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos. That deal landed Drew Lock in Seattle, and he'll have a chance to compete for the starting gig, but fans aren't overly excited at his arrival.
There's been a fair amount of criticism on Lock's game following the trade to Seattle, and Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf has heard enough.
Let’s chill on the Drew Lock slander
— DK Metcalf (@dkm14) March 18, 2022
Metcalf posted a message on Twitter, saying, "Let's chill on the Drew Lock slander." It's clear the focus on Lock's struggles to this point has been apparent recently, so the Seahawks wideout decided to try and change the conversation following days of grumbling.
This the exact kind of thing a team leader should be doing, and it showcases Metcalf making good on his promise to work on his maturity. He didn't blast anyone on social media; instead, he took a more direct approach to cut out the negativity that's running through the Seahawks fan base.
Seattle's ultimate resolution at QB is unclear at this point, so it's very possible Lock does end up being the Week 1 starter. Though replacing Wilson won't be easy, the former second-round pick at least deserves some support while he tries to overcome his negative perception around the league.
Perhaps a fresh start will even unlock the potential the QB showed at Missouri, especially with Metcalf and Tyler Lockett as his new targets.
