DJ Chark Injury Update Solidifies Week 1 Fantasy Outlook

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver D.J. Chark has bounce-back potential entering the 2021 season with new quarterback Trevor Lawrence in town. However, a finger injury has limited the wideout in preseason play.

The latest update on Chark, though, is excellent news for fantasy managers ahead of Week 1.

D.J. Chark Fantasy Outlook

Chark appeared to be back at 100% in practice, and even earned praise from his head coach. Anyone worried about the wideout's status for Week 1 can breathe a sigh of relief.

The fourth-year pro has been a dependable source of production despite unstable quarterback play. He broke out in 2019, ranking as WR17 in PPR scoring after racking up 73 receptions, 1,008 yards and 8 TDs. His numbers fell across the board in 2020 thanks to the QB situation, and he managed a WR48 finish.

Lawrence's arrival is the spark Chark needed to get back to Pro Bowl-worthy play. Though Chark has to compete with Marvin Jones Jr. and Laviska Shenault Jr., he should have the edge given his previous production as the team's top target.

Chark has the chance to earn his new QB's good graces in an appetizing Week 1 matchup against the Houston Texans. Houston ranked fourth-worst in Football Outsiders' pass defense DVOA metric last season, which sets the stage for Lawrence's go-to option to feast on Sunday.

With Chark seemingly fully healthy, he has plenty of FLEX appeal as the Lawrence era gets underway in Week 1. He checks in at WR32 in The Duel's Week 1 fantasy football rankings.
