The last week or so has been hell for the San Francisco 49ers' fanbase after star wide receiver Deebo Samuel requested a trade. Sometimes it just takes some time for both sides to talk things out to repair the relationship, however, that doesn't seem like the situation in this case.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport appeared on Friday's edition of the 'Pat McAfee Show' to discuss the situation. Rapoport shared some disappointing details that 49ers fans won't like, reporting that Samuel essentially told management "I want to be traded and don't make me a [contract] offer."

Deebo Samuel Trade Rumors

Rapoport added that Samuel's issue with the 49ers is not about that money despite recent reports suggesting that the 26-year-old playmaker is looking for a contract in the neighborhood of $25 million per season.

Samuel broke out during the 2021 NFL season thanks to his versatility of being able to contribute both on the ground and in the passing game. He finished with 1,405 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns on 77 catches and 365 rushing yards and eight TDs on 59 carries en route to Pro-Bowl and first-team All-Pro honors.

Dynamic players like Samuel only come around so often, which is why 49ers fans are probably sick to their stomachs at the thought of the irreparable relationship. If he is indeed traded this offseason, San Francisco's offense will likely take a serious hit.

It remains to be seen where Samuel will get traded. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that the 49ers WR would like to play closer to his home state of South Carolina. Rapoport also reported on the same day that Samuel wants to be traded due to the team using him too much in a running back role.

Regardless of where he ends up, one thing is for certain: Samuel will be a game-changer for whichever team he plays for next season. It just won't be in a 49ers uniform.
