The Arizona Diamondbacks are in the midst of a tough season and currently sit at the bottom of the National League West division with a record of 22-58. The bad news just keeps on coming for Arizona as it looks like starter Ketel Marte will miss multiple weeks due to a hamstring injury.

Diamondbacks Injury Update

Marte was placed on the 10-day injured list, but his diagnosis of a left hamstring strain makes it clear that he will miss more time than that. The 27-year-old originally suffered the injury about a week ago and attempted to play through it. However, he seemed to aggravate it even more this past weekend.

This is unfortunate news given Marte already missed nearly six weeks of action earlier this season due to a right hamstring strain. The seven-year pro has been a bright spot on this struggling team over the last few seasons and the Diamondbacks can't afford to take any unnecessary risks with their franchise player.

He has been stellar in 2021 posting a .370/.419/.556 slash line across 37 games played. Overall, he has racked up 24 runs scored to go along with 4 home runs and 21 RBI.

Right-handed pitcher Humberto Castellanos has been recalled from Triple-A Reno to take Marte's place on the active roster. Any hope Arizona had for competing this season is all but gone as they currently have odds set at +50000 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
